I haven't seen my cutting surface for a LONG time. Now that it is tidied it is time to mess it up again. I am collecting denim to make a quilt for Sam. I thought I'd try some Sashiko quilting to decorate each hexagon.
Upcycled Creations
What I do
I see the potential in no longer wanted garments. Wool with moth holes and silk and velvet with worn places still have corners of beautiful fabric waiting to be sewn into something that will be loved again. Yard sales, thrift stores, and great friends are my main source for creative supplies. I'm glad to see that upcycling is becoming more mainstream now and not something (as was in my Mother's and Grandmother's day) to apologize for.

Inch by Inch
I found a great pattern for using up bits of yarn. I have some Bamboo yarn, Jennifer gave me some thrift store found wool yarn, and I bought one precious skein of Alpaca yarn at the market.
Something else I have been working on. LOTS of French knots.

Market
Cinnamon Honey cookies
Chocolate Peanut Butter Honey treats
Peanut Butter Honey treats
Muffins and scones. Saturday is market day. It was very slow just after the holidays but there is always next week. Just before Christmas the vendor who makes chocolates bought our last jar of honey blueberry jam. They came back with a new chocolate they named Blueberries and Cream - DELICIOUS! I see a lot more jam production for us this summer.

In Stitches
Some resent doodles. I like to use needle and thread instead of pen and ink. Somehow it works for me.
Hot chocolate and cupcakes. These are going to be finished as Christmas ornaments.
Some doodles put together. I'm pleased with the way this art quilt is going.

Quiltercise
Who said quilting is a sedentary activity? Here is my routine:
1. squat on the floor and mark the next piece of fabric.
2. stand up, walk to sewing machine, sit down and sew next seam
3. stand up and press sewn seam
4. kneel on floor and design next piece
5. start all over again
6.repeat until your back gives out or the job is finished

New Bags
I was in need of a new purse. I made this pattern and REALLY like it. Even the male members of my household were impressed.
The lining fabric has dragonflies on it that were just the right size to cover these buttons and use for embellishment. Too cool. I had enough of the bits of fabric to make 2 more bags to sell.
Next bag I make I want to use part of this plaid wool skirt and incorporate the neat buckle somehow. First, though, I have to make cupcakes and hot chocolate.
